A sure sign is if your wick has a bubbly shape after you burn it. Always trim your wicks to 1/4" to avoid smoking.

Why does my candle have a "tunnel" of wax around the edges?

While Winford candles are designed to melt evenly, a common problem with all candles is called "tunneling," when the center flame drops below the level of wax around the edges. Be sure to burn the candle long enough during each burn (especially the first time!) to make sure the wax melts all the way to edges, and your Winford candle will burn perfectly for its lifespan.
